SOPHIE LINDEN
Beads by Slinden
Created by Sophie Linden out of her home studio in Detroit, MI, this jewelry collection was born from a love of organic beauty. Each piece is intuitively crafted to be one of a kind, reflecting the distinct quality of unique natural materials. Her jewelry is fashioned with artisanal glass and ceramic beads, natural pearls and shells, and semi-precious stones.
About the Artist
“Inspired by Earth’s beauty and the connection between all that resides on it, my work is heavily influenced by natural patterns in earthly forms. Oscillating between two mediums at the same time, oil painting and beaded jewelry, I allow one art practice to inform the other. My recent observational paintings began as a study of the organic rhythm and structure of these natural patterns. Rock formations, water, plants and animals were the foundation of this exploration. My adoration for natural objects plays into my jewelry as well. I fashion my pieces from a breadth of beads made of semi-precious stone and shells in addition to an assortment of ceramic and glass. I intuitively create nature-inspired collections of jewelry, playing with the same ideas of repetition, color and form. In my current exploration of painting beads, my paintings illustrate the surfaces of both natural and man-made objects, celebrating human creation follows the natural laws of pattern and design.”
